Crumbl Cookies, a viral cookie company that first gained traction on TikTok thanks to its unique marketing, has remained popular for quite some time. One of its biggest draws is the rotating “flavors of the week,” a constantly changing lineup featuring creative and often unexpected options. This week, we had the chance to try several of them, and we’ve got a lot to report.
This week’s featured flavors included:
Milk Chocolate Chip, Sugar Cookie (ft. Mother’s Circus Animal), Chocolate Cake, Blueberry Cheesecake, Cookie Dough, Strawberry Cake, Tres Leches, and Lemon.
We started with the Milk Chocolate Chip cookie, and we found this classic to be well-executed. It was extremely thick and had an abundance of chocolate chips, which we found delicious. Although it would have been better warmed, we gave this cookie both a 7/10. Overall, it was just a nice basic cookie that can satisfy any cravings.
The Sugar Cookie (ft. Mother’s Circus Animal) was a let down. Personally, we thought the name was misleading. In the center of the cookie lay an animal cracker, which led us to believe the cookie would taste more like the delicious animal cracker itself. Unfortunately, we found the cookie to taste just like a regular sugar cookie, which was disappointing. On top of that, the frosting was really gooey and liquidy, drawing away from its appeal. Overall, we gave it a 5.5/10.
If you are looking for a cookie that tastes like a brownie, The Chocolate Cake Cookie is for you. We thought it tasted similar to a brownie or a thick chocolate cake, with a very rich flavor. It was incredibly dense and felt like you were eating a lot, even with just a small bite. The cookie itself was slightly bitter, although the frosting added some sweetness to its taste. We gave the cookie a 7.5/10. It could have been done better if there was less frosting, and felt less dense, but overall it was enjoyable.
The Blueberry Cheesecake cookie split our opinions. Rachel, a cheesecake fan, loved the rich frosting and how it blended with the blueberry compote. Tess, on the other hand, does not normally reach for cheesecake, and found the cookie too heavy and reminiscent of straight cream cheese, with a bland flavor overall. We settled on two scores: 7/10 for cheesecake lovers, and 4/10 for everyone else.
The Cookie Dough Cookie was a dessert we could both agree on. We both went into this experience most excited for this cookie, as it looks delicious and cookie dough is a widely spread favorite dessert. With these expectations in mind, we tried the cookie and found our expectations were very wrong. It felt like taking a bite out of a stick of butter. It was extremely rich, but not in a good way. It was too sweet while too bitter, with a strange aftertaste. We couldn’t stomach this cookie any further, and agreed on a rating of 4/10.
We were cautiously optimistic about this one, despite its bright pink color and spongy appearance. The first bite wasn’t bad—it was moist with a mild flavor—but by the second, the texture became unappetizing and almost soggy. The excessive moisture really ruined it. 3/10.
Tres Leches was by far our favorite out of everything we tried. This was less of a cookie and more of a small cake, but its taste was just perfection. It tasted like a cinnamon roll, but with more cinnamon and more of a cake flavor. It was very cinnamon-ey, but not to the point of ruining the dessert. The frosting was fluffy and light, unlike some of the other desserts we tried. It was just overall perfection. We gave this a mutual 9/10.
Though this wasn’t listed online as one of the week’s official flavors, it was available in-store, so we gave it a try. Tess, who doesn’t like lemon in desserts, found the flavor overpowering and sour, rating it 5/10. Rachel, a lemon dessert enthusiast, thought it was zesty and refreshing without being too intense, giving it a 7/10.
While we both enjoyed trying these unique flavors, we felt that overall for the quality of the desserts versus the price, Crumbl is not worth it and is overhyped. If the flavors are especially good then maybe there is some understanding of its high prices, but when the flavors are as disappointing as this week’s, we feel that there are many other places that are worth spending your money on.
