Junior prom is coming up on May 9, and there’s a ton of buzz surrounding the event. Many students have already purchased their dresses in preparation for the night. 11th grader Sophie Moynihan shares her excitement, stating that she is looking forward to “getting ready” for prom, as well as taking pictures with all her friends before heading to the event. Sophie shared that finding a dress was difficult, as her search for a well-fitting, inexpensive dress that matched her style was extensive. Luckily, she was able to find her dress online and have it ready months before prom, something she prioritized as she knew finding a dress closer to the date would be stressful. Additionally, Sophie mentioned a Facebook group that the junior class has made to broadcast your dress choice to let other students know that dress is taken. The Facebook group provides a fun way for students to showcase your dress and see what others are wearing.
Another junior student, Alexia Hultin, shares that her favorite parts of prom will be dancing with her friends and seeing the whole grade dancing together, so she’s hoping that there will be a fun DJ. She believes that prom is “a really great opportunity for the whole grade to get together and interact with old friends and make new ones.” She also really enjoyed picking her dress, as it got her whole family together to give her advice and help her choose the perfect dress. While the process was stressful, Alexia knows that she will have a great time no matter what dress she picks.
It is clear that the junior grade is very excited for this big event, and for good reason. Between getting ready, taking pictures, showing moves on the dance floor, and bringing the grade together, prom is deserving of its title as one of the best nights of the year for those who participate.
