One of the best times of the year is quickly approaching! The holiday season is almost here and with that comes decorations to make the holidays a little more cheerful. But when should the holiday decorations come out? A little bit before christmas? Months in advance? It is in dispute, everyone does it a little differently, and L-S students are no exception to that fact.
Even before the arrival of Thanksgiving, some students had already gotten into the holiday festivities and had their houses fully decorated. L-S Sophomore Juliana Soliman likes to decorate in mid-November because she thinks the holiday season includes Thanksgiving too, not just Christmas and Hanukkah. Juliana says that decorating early “makes [her] so happy, like if I’m walking around my house and everything is Christmas, my mood is lifted.”
However, decorating a month in advance is not for everyone. Anna Trevisan and Grace Comer, both Juniors at L-S, think that decorating before Thanksgiving is too early because they feel like “we are skipping this whole section of a holiday and the fall spirit.” Another advantage to waiting to decorate is that it can make the holidays feel more special, as instead of decorating and focusing on multiple holidays, there is only one to focus on!
Whether you are decorating for Hanukkah, Christmas, or any other winter holiday, consider a time to decorate that will make you feel joy, and even excitement for the holiday season!
