On February 15th, Lincoln-Sudbury commanded the MIAA Division 1 Indoor Track and Field State Championships on the backs of record-breaking performances from junior Gabby Pierre and sophomore Nico Begic.
Pierre recorded a 2024 state-best and Lincoln-Sudbury record with a 5.84m long jump. “I was excited {to break the school record}. All my hard work came together,” said Pierre. Pierre also qualified for nationals with an 11.96 triple jump in December.
Another school record was broken by Nico Begic, clocking a 34.69 second 300m dash. Begic was optimistic after finishing a mere third of a second behind senior and Georgetown University commit Natanael Vigo Catala. “I knew who I was going against but I took it as an opportunity to grow. I didn’t expect myself to go this far and I credit my coaches for that,” said Begic.
The future is bright for these two young stars; they both hope to track and field at the collegiate level.
