As the 2023-2024 school year dawns on LS, so does a historically high number of new staff members joining the LS community. Notable new additions include Superintendent Andrew Stephens, new Athletic Director Daniel Lee, and new teachers in almost every department around LS. Here are some fun facts about these new staff members to help us welcome them to the LS community.
Zachary “Zac” Allor – Admin, Assistant to Athletic Director – Mr. Allor previously worked in Collegiate Esports and oversaw a National Championship team at Northeastern University. He plays and helps to run an adult kickball league.
Patrick Dooley – LTS Counselor – South House Mr. Dooley enjoys cooking Vietnamese food and trying new foods. He also served in the army for 9 years and enjoys watching football with his family.
John Egan – Special Education (LINK 2) Mr. Egan was a D1 Track and Cross Country athlete at Saint Joseph’s University for all 4 years. He studied Special Education at Assumption college after his undergraduate degree and loves being outside.
Sage Engberg – English Teacher – Ms. Engberg has lived in 4 different countries (Japan, France, Spain and the US). She has hiked close to 10,000 miles in the past 10 years and used to teach French before switching to teaching English.
Brenda Fruscione – Clinical Counselor LSA Ms. Fruscione loves reading, cooking and the beach. She prefers to read teen fiction and cook as well as try new restaurants in the Boston area.
Christian Latham – Physics and Earth Science Teacher Mr. Latham enjoys bouldering, writing music (specifically on banjo) and has 3 self-recorded albums. He is most of the way through creating a new card game and knows how to spin fire (if anyone would like to learn).
Anna Manning – Teacher’s Assistant Ms. Manning graduated from Umass Amherst this past spring where she received a major in Psychology and minor in education. She has a pet rabbit named Daisy and worked at a farm camp over the summer where she enjoyed spending time with animals (her favorite pastime).
Michael Mazzu – LTS Math Teacher Mr. Mazzu was a software systems engineer for over 30 years and is an original developer of some of the first facial recognition systems (one of them was used in the 2000 NFL Super Bowl). He started teaching at Shrewsbury High in 2020-2021 and has three daughters at UMass, Cornell and RPI.
Marcella Oliveira – LTS World Language – Latin Ms. Oliveira was born and raised in Marlborough, MA. She received her Masters in Latin Teaching from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is Braziliana and speaks Portuguese fluently.
Shannon Orifice – Admin, Assistant to ACE Counseling Ms. Orifice went to college in Las Vegas, NV. She has danced since she was three years old and taught dance for 15 years (previously at Bedford High for 9 years).
Alison Rappoccio – Science Lab Assistant Ms. Rappoccio loves being active and outdoors. Her favorite food of all time is peanut butter and she loves spending time with her four kids.
Alex Reiter – Computer Science Teacher Mr. Reiter was born and raised in Oklahoma City, OK. He used to be a software engineer who programmed art installations and once participated in an electronic fashion show.
Meghan Stanton – Wellness Teacher Ms. Stanton has been dancing since she was 2 years old and teaching for 4. She used to work several other unique places such as at the YMCA, orthopedic office, retail, and academic counseling. She helped create a game at her childhood summer camp that is still played to this day.
Andrew Stephens – Superintendent/Principal Mr. Stephens was born in Johnson, VT. He is 6’8” (he did play basketball) and enjoys cooking (especially comfort dishes).
Mary Sieminski – Clinical Counselor/Psychologist – East House Ms. Sieminski was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. During Covid, she started a blog with a friend about the best coffee in MA and recently adopted a black cat named Teddy!
Jacqueline “Jackie” Travers – Science Chemistry Teacher Ms. Travers is a 3rd generation teacher and her husband went to LS while her kids (who went to AB) frequently played sports against LS. She attended the University of Notre Dame and University of Texas at Austin. She is also a Buffalo Bills fan.
