On October 24, the Lincoln-Sudbury Girls Volleyball team is hosting Concord-Carlisle for their annual charity game. This year, LSGVB is choosing to support the Side-Out Foundation during Breast Cancer Awareness Month by competing in their own Dig Pink match!
The Side-Out Foundation was founded by Rick Dunetz in 2006 after his mom was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. The goal of this non-profit foundation was to support breast cancer patients through paying for research teams and treatment options. At the time, Rick Dunetz was a high school volleyball coach, and wanted to get his community involved during October, the Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Many years and Dig Pink games throughout the years have helped support countless patients and families through tough times.
To raise money for the Side-Out and National Breast Cancer Foundation, LS Volleyball parents designed Dig Pink T-shirts, and the girls are also holding a bake sale on gameday. There will be many delicious treats outside the doors of Gym 1, and all profits go toward breast cancer awareness donations.
In previous years, LS Volleyball has had many meaningful games, including last year’s match on behalf of Amani Children’s Home in Tanzania. This fall, the Warriors Volleyball team has already made a positive impact and exceeded donation expectations. The T-shirt purchases beat the team’s goal by 23 sales, and countless students are already excited for the game. The LS Volleyball team thanks all of the students, parents, teachers, and supporters that helped raise awareness about breast cancer.
The LS Girls Volleyball program is excited to host Concord-Carlisle Volleyball for a memorable and meaningful game. Be ready to cheer loud, have fun, and wear pink!
